This review ended up taking me a lot longer to write than I anticipated – mainly because I was trying to space out my circle lens reviews and because I’ve been working so much the past few weeks that I hadn’t really had a chance to doll out nicely and go out (since I don’t wear lenses to work – though maybe I should get some daily lenses to do this), but, of course, Mother’s Day was an excuse!
We were going out for dinner to a nice restaurant, so I thought that it would be a good opportunity to break out these pretty gray contacts that I recieved from Klenspop – these are the Ashley-S Gray from their range, a bold, cool toned lens. These lenses usually come with a free lens case and tweezers (unpictured, since this was a sponsored gift), but I’ll be showing just the product.
These lenses come in their individual glass bottles, with the Klenspop style illustration that we all know and love. I got these with 0.00 power strength, but these are available in a variety of powers to suit you – you can also get two different strengths if that is needed for your eyes. Here are the details:
Diameter 14.5mm
Graphic Diameter 14mm
Base Curve 8.6mm
Lifespan 6 months
Water content 38%
When you just look at the lenses, these have a cool gray tone to them with a darker rim – however, it isn’t too dramatic and, before being put in your eyes, they actually look so subtle that I was worried they wouldn’t show up at all. However, the result was actually bolder than I thought it would be – in a good way – but also managed to look natural enough for a casual day out. There is some slight enlarging, but it isn’t too dramatic, which is perfect.
The lenses were really comfortable in and I didn’t have any discomfort with drying, even though I had them in for a good few hours. They’re very soft, and don’t have the sort of sturdiness of a hydrogel lens though. The colour was really pretty in my eyes, though had a hint of a blue to them! Personally, I really liked the colour and I’ll be continuing to wear these.
Below are the photos of them with soft box lighting – I did my bed to get the most accurate lighting for them. There have been minimal photo editing work here (only smoothing out some minor blemishes on my chin) and the colour has not been manipulated.
Oh, that was a lot of photos! I actually took these after dinner because I was really happy with how my make up looks – though the greasiness of my messy hair is a total give away, right? I really need to get a hair cut and fix it up.
Anyway, back on the lenses – I’m really happy with how these look and they’re comfortable too, which is great (and a necessity). I’m glad that these showed up so well on my dark eyes and that the rim was still quite natural – so I would recommend these are all different natural eye colours. For lighter shades, this might be more of a gray-blue enhancement of your colour.
Here’s the verdict:
SO WHAT IS IT?
Bold coloured, but natural cool-toned gray-blue lenses
THE GOOD
- 6 month lifespan
- Free lens case (not pictured)
- Comfortable with no dryness issues noticed
- Natural looking darker rim
- Colour shows up bold even on dark eyes
- Natural eye enlargement that is suitable for casual wear
- Look that suits a variety of make up looks
THE BAD
- None noticed, to be honest
WOULD I RECOMMEND?
These are pretty affordable at USD$18 – especially because they also have a six month life span. I definitely recommend people try these out if they’re looking for a bright colour enhancement or change, but also want something that is natural looking and suitable for casual wear.
