Korean skincare is most well known for their high quality ingredients, especially when it comes to more traditional products such as fermented rice, ginseng and herbs. They are generally found in brands that are a little bit pricier and so I have only tried out a few of them. One of my favourite ingredients would have to be rice, since I’m a big fan of anything with brightening properties, but one that I have definitely stayed away from is Ginseng. Ginseng can be a very interesting ingredient and is one that my mother enjoys, but I’ve always disliked the scent of it and so I can’t bring myself to use it on my face.
How interesting is it then that I’m now testing out this new Sooryehan cleanser (this is the Bon Cleansing Foam) which contains ginseng extract and my favourite thing about it is the scent?! I received this to review from BB Cosmetic and it is currently selling on their website for USD$18 (discounted from USD$23.99). Their online store also has free international shipping with no minimum purchase, and you can also get an additional 8% off with my code (which I don’t make money from, but will bring down that cart total): QAL3F6ZA8YZ
It is rather expensive for a cleanser, to be honest, so let’s get right into my experiences with this product!
The cleanser comes in a very classic, tradition-inspired packaging design that I think gives it a very elegant look without being over-the-top. It is something that I would gift to someone older than me (maybe my mother) without hesitation because it looks like a luxury product. She doesn’t really use face cleanser though, so maybe I’ll look at the other Sooryehan products – BB Cosmetic also have a skin toner for sale. The style of it reminds me a lot of Sulwhasoo with the gold foil script writing.
The cleanser comes in a 160mL squeeze tube, which is a good size and also the most convenient to use in the shower. The plastic has a matte finish and it feels a bit thick and better quality than the usual. It isn’t the best for travel, because of the size, but it is still possible to use. I would personally prefer to decant that.
The cap of the tube is made of a more standard plastic, but it clicks in tightly. Overall, the packaging feels and looks to be of a high quality and it isn’t flimsy.
The cleanser comes out as a yellow-ish cream. It’s very dense and you need to put a bit more pressure than usual to dispense it. It foams up a little when you work it into your skin but, to be honest, it isn’t that foamy. What I really like about this cleanser, however, is the scent! It has a very natural herbal scent to it which is really natural and calming to the senses – definitely something that I would take my time and enjoy.
The cleanser claims to remove make up and impurities, be non-drying and be rich in moisture to keep skin healthy. Although it does clean my skin really well and very quickly, I don’t find this hydrating at all! In fact, it makes my skin drag a bit when I wash it off and I find it to be quite drying, which is a pity because I think that it does the job well, otherwise.
This would be best used as part of a two-step cleansing routine (where the oil cleanser, in my experience, helps the water-based cleanser to be less stripping) or with a good hydrating skincare routine afterwards. There is room to improve with this cleanser.
Here’s the verdict!

WOULD I RECOMMEND?
I love the scent and how effective with cleansing that this product is. However, stripping and drying cleansers can be really bad for the skin and I am hesitant to recommend it – this is definitely something that I hope they improve on. That being said, I didn’t get any adverse effects from this so I do think that it’s alright to try out (especially if you have oily skin) but this isn’t suitable for me. I will likely still finish it up but I won’t repurchase it myself.
WHERE TO GET IT FROM
The Bon Cleansing Foam was sent to me by BB Cosmetic, who were so generous in sending me a bunch of products to review. They have free shipping, 10% credit back for SNS reviews and, of course, you can use my code for 8% off! I don’t make any money from it, but you do save a bit: QAL3F6ZA8YZ
