When I talk to the people at StyleKorean (or any place that I collaborate with), I’m always curious to know what new product they’re looking to promote. In the past, I have been recommended products from amazing indie brands that I’ve grown to love and I just really enjoy finding new products like that. That being said, my skin did have a bad reaction to the last Heimish skincare product that I had tested (their Refresh Water was so surprisingly bad for me that I ended up tossing the bottle away because I was too hesitant to gift it to anyone) and I had figured that I was just not suited to it… which is a shame because their Cozy Coral Palette is still my favourite, travel go-to.
However, when I had a look at one of their new products, I decided to give them one more shot! My skincare routine has become a lot more regular now so, even if my skin is still not in optimal condition yet (but aren’t we always working on that?) I find that I can be more aware of what products are doing to my skin. This new product is their Bulgarian Rose Water Mist Serum – part of the draw is that the packaging is just so crazy pretty, and the other is that I actually really love the scent of Rose Water and this is just my excuse to try something else out instead of stealing my friend’s Mario Badescu.
This product retails for USD$28.80 and contains 55mL – it is rather expensive for a mist, as even the Pyunkang Yul Mist Toner is only USD$21.60 for 200mL – but I figured that it might be a little more special. Heimish in general can be a little pricier than mainstream, roadshop brands, but I usually find that this premium pricing is reflected in the quality and packaging.
So, without more rambling from me, let’s get on with the review!
Product Description & Claims
The name of the product is what confused me at first, since it claims to be both a serum and a mist. Reading into the product description, however, it seems that this is a skincare mist – it is not simply a cooling mist product, but it also holds skincare properties (which is likely the reason for the premium price). It is highly moisturising and provides your skin with much needed nourishment. The description also says that this can be used both under and over make up – which is a point that I really wanted to test out.
The Mist Serum has a number of claims and the below is paraphrased from the product page:
- Comprises of 88% Bulgarian Rose, which is in highly concentration that most competitors
- Highly viscous texture (adheres well to the skin) with strong hydration properties
- It is a mist with skincare function, meaning that it is travel friendly and convenient to use on the go (or if you’re an office girl like me)
- Has a gentle and relaxing rose scent
- Cost effective (I beg to differ but okay)
- It has a fine mist spray that applies evenly and lightly
- All ingredients/components has a EWG green grade, meaning that it is safe for sensitive skin use
Generally, the function of this product is to hydrate and nourish your skin on the go (as well as as part of your daily skincare routine) in a easy to use mist form, using a high concentration of Bulgarian Rose and skin safe ingredients.
Packaging & Application
So as I mentioned before, something that drew me towards this product (and really, I should be better than this!) was the packaging. I find that Heimish is really great at doing good quality and elegant packaging which is very true to their brand, but still stays interesting and attractive.
This product comes in a pink and white box, which has a matte finish and gold foil details. The design is a bit ornate with the pattern on the bottom, but it also manages to look classy. It is mature, but it is still youthful and elegant. This pink and white theme is carried onto the bottle which has an opaque pink gradient. Since the product has a milky white colour, it makes the design of the bottle match the box perfectly – which is a great touch. It is made of a matte plastic and feels sturdy. It’s definitely survived being tossed around in my bag really well.
The shape of the bottle is fairly standard. It’s shorter and stout, with an even shape throughout (like a cylinder) so it stands well on my vanity. The travel friendly size also means that I can carry it to and from work every day without having to worry about it. It hasn’t gotten dirty and the cap hasn’t cracked or anything.
Opening up the cap, the spray nozzle is indeed very fine and well dispersed like their claims. It’s firm and easy to use; definitely feels good quality and I’ll be reusing this bottle. The spray isn’t as strong and in your face (literally) as the Pyunkang Yul but, because of that, I tend to spray more of it – 4-6 sprays every time I apply it, even though the descriptions says twice.
The bottle contains 55mL of product which is okay for a serum but, in my opinion, way too small for a mist product. I’m sure that I will be finishing up this entire bottle within another two or so weeks since I tend to mist multiple times a day. I would rather that they dilute the product further to give more volume – this sort of dense formula is great for the skin, but wasted in a spray formula as we tend to be more reckless with these.
Personal Thoughts
I used this Mist Serum as I would any mist product – frequently and every day! Since I work in an office, I’m always looking for a new mist to refresh me during the long work hours and I can definitely say that the beautiful rose scent of this was really calming for me. In fact, a few of my co-workers were pretty interested to know what I was spraying around.
Used underneath make up, the product gives a light hydration to your skin but, used on top of make up, it definitely gives you a strong boost of dewiness. For people with dry skin, this would be really good to use throughout the day. However, since I have combination skin and tend to get greasier during the day, I found that this did bring out more shine. It didn’t have any bad effect on my make up though and my skin does feel more moisturised at the end of the day.
My main issue with this product is the price and the amount that you get. If it is a cost that you can justify then, of course, it is a good formula as not all mists have skincare properties and it smells/applies great but there are also alternatives. My current desk favourite is the Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel Mist (USD$10.80 for 150mL) – it does not have the skincare properties that this Heimish Mist Serum does and the packaging isn’t as pretty, but it’s still good for a daily refresh.
So, here’s my verdict!
SO WHAT IS IT?
A hydrating rose water face mist with skincare properties
THE GOOD
- Super pretty, elegant packaging – it looks so good
- Travel friendly and good quality bottle
- Light and airy spray nozzle
- High concentration of Bulgarian Rose
- Sensitive skin safe (all EWG green level components)
- Strong hydration skincare properties
- Smells amazing
- Can be used over make up (makes it more dewy but doesn’t break anything down)
THE BAD
- Expensive for the amount of product
- Can highlight shine

WOULD I RECOMMEND?
The thing with my rating scale for this product is that it isn’t quite accurate for all situations. This Mist Serum is definitely good, and would be especially suitable for sensitive and/or dry skin (but perhaps not oil slicks or those who become oil slicks like myself) but whether or not I think this is worth trying out really depends on a case-by-case basis.
The price is not exorbitant, but it is most than I would expect to pay for a 55mL bottle of mist (though perhaps if it was a serum form then the same can’t be said). If you aren’t bothered by either of those points, then this is a good one to try out! Otherwise, definitely look at alternatives, especially if you use them as regularly as I do.
