I first saw these shadow duos on Youtube and, being a bit fan of shimmer and glitter myself, I really wanted to try them. The one hesitation that I had, however, is that I haven’t had very good experiences with liquid eyeshadows in the past – those that I’ve tried have been difficult to blend, crease very easily and look really messy when applied (maybe I just don’t have that magic skill). When BB Cosmetic approached me about reviewing this though, I just couldn’t say no.
These eyeshadow duos come in five original colours – Margaret (champagne), Eldora (gold), Talia (silver), Adelio (burgundy) and Lottie (plum). There are also an additional five colours, but I’m unsure if these were released later as I don’t see them around as much – Lala, Irina, Sonia, Trudy and Linda. These seem to be more colourful shades, while the originals are more wearable, metallic colours.
According to the website, “these dual eye shadows offers rich, metallic pigment with a foil finish in one swipe.” The metallic pigment is the liquid eyeshadow while, on the other side, you have your matching glitter pigment. I tested these out of a few different occasions and – seriously – I love them. I’m very tempted to buy the other shades as well.

For my review, I decided to go with the above three colours (Margaret, Adelio and Lottie) which were quite wearable and easy to work with for me. I didn’t want to go too crazy with colours because I’ve had a less than great experience with liquid eyeshadows.
I really loved the box design for these. They were quite different and unique, with a slanted box shape, foiled type and a colour coded design. It was pretty interesting, while remaining quite modern and trendy – looking right at home amongst other mid-high end products (and probably also why is product is also housed by Sephora in some countries). As a designer, I’m not crazy about the font choice (especially on the ends of the boxes) but I’ve definitely seen worse.
The paper, quality and design of the box package is pretty good and, if you’re giving some of these as gifts or adding them to a large present, they’ll definitely look good! However, for those of us who are selfish and buying it for yourself (like me), we’re probably more interested in the interior.
And these are the tubes! I love that they have a good weight and feel to them. They definitely look and fell like a good, high quality product which justifies that the original price of these is a bit expensive (though BB Cosmetic has them on sale right now). The middle of the tube is made of metal and is cold to the touch, while the rest of the tube is a thick plastic. I love how the colours look in the tube too – so pretty and shimmery! This is possibly one of the reasons I want an entire set – I want to see how it looks all laid together.
So the colours that I got from front to back:
- Margaret: This one was actually sold out when I first chose my colours, but it was such a pretty shade that I couldn’t not have it – so I waited. This one is called a champagne colour but I think it’s more like a copper gold – it has warm, orange undertones rather than a cool, pink one. It’s very wearable and can easily be used as a daily shadow.
- Adelio: This one is a burgundy shade, but it is closer to a rusted red to me. It applies a bit dark at first but don’t be intimidated, because it’s easily bendable. The glitter is also a very good match for it. I personally have no hesitation about wearing this casually but, for those who might be a bit intimidated by it – go with a light hand.
- Lottie: I love the metallic cream for this shadow but it’s a pity that the glitter doesn’t really match it. This ‘plum’ colour actually has a more muted, mauve base colour with a pink-purple glitter on top. Of course, the glitter is still really pretty but I liked the base colour more so I wish that carried through. Still, this one is a bit special but also easy to wear day to day.
So as you can see in the above photos, the product has two ends. The metallic cream shadow had a typical and easy to use doe foot applicator (pictured above). I love how easily it glides over my eyelid and it’s a good size to apply close to the lash line as well. The glitter, however, had a really interesting applicator (pictured below). It is like a soft, silicon brush that is flexible and short. It makes it very easy to pick up and apply the glitter pigment but, since the pigment doesn’t stick too much to the brush (ensuring you don’t waste product), it can get a bit messy. I’ve had accidents where I spilled loose glitter on myself – it’s not that fun.
However, with that being said, application is really easy and quick. I love how blend able this formula is, how well the glitter sticks to the eye lid and that it is equally pretty with and without the glitter. Also, the latter has a pretty interesting texture where the glitter part isn’t coarse or heavy. If anything, it feels a bit wet and, when applied, it melts a bit on the eyelid. It’s similar how I would imagine Colourpop loose pigments to be and reminds me a little bit of art foiling.
And above are the swatches in the order of: Margaret (metallic, metallic + glitter), Adelio (metallic, metallic + glitter) and Lottie (metallic, metallic + glitter).
As you can see, some of them (especially Lottie) look more dramatically different with the glitter applied. I have to admit that the photo doesn’t quite do it enough justice though as it is necessary to see the glitter in moving action to really appreciate the glimmer of it. Regardless, all three colours are really pretty and I really love this product. It is long wearing as heck too – I apply it in the morning and it doesn’t completely wear off until late in the afternoon. On the day that I went to the Easter festival, I had come home at ten or eleven in the night (and applied this around eight in the morning) and, although the glitter had worn off, the metallic shadow was still there! I’m really impressed with this product.
Because you are essentially using a single tone over your entire eye though, it can make your make up look a little bit flat at times. My trick for fixing that is applying a little bit of a darker eyeshadow (brown, black or a matching shade) on the corner of the eye after applying the glitter. You can do it before too, but I prefer to use it after to ensure that my glitter has a cream to stick to and to ensure that the glitter doesn’t overtake my shadow shade.

Yes! Absolutely! I am so thrilled that I had the chance to try these because I would have sadly missed out otherwise. I love the formulas, the colours, the packaging and the applicators. The fact that these shadows manage to be long lasting on my very watery and sensitive eyes without primer is really amazing as well. Although they are a bit expensive, I think that everyone should give this a chance – it’s not excessive, and worth a little bit of a splurge.
