Review: Milky Piggy Water Lock Hydrogel Melting Mask (Elizavecca)

Elizavecca Kbeauty Review Kangsi Pack EGF Retinol Cream Masks

I’ve been trying to get more active on my blog again but it’s proving more difficult than it should be because of work. I have also been having some trouble with my health that I haven’t been talking about much, but I am taking care of myself and trying to get back to my full spirits. Hopefully, things get a little bit easier but – in the mean time – you can keep following me on Instagram and also check out my Youtube Channel! For now though, let’s jump right into a review. As with most of my sheet mask reviews, I’m going to keep it fairly short and sweet.

This is the Milky Piggy Water Lock Hydrogel Melting Mask that I recieved from Elizavecca to review. They had actually sent me a package of things to test but it’s been taking me a while to get through them. However, everything I have tested so far has been great and I actually really enjoyed this mask! This is (as you can tell) a hydrogel mask, meaning that it doesn’t use a cotton sheet but rather a gel material that is cooling, clings well to the skin and actually helps to hydrate better. These masks are usually considered a premium product and cost more than your normal sheets, but I love them a lot and I tend to save them for special days.

The packaging has a super cute pig illustration and, as usual, I had to take the time out the admire it. The milkypiggy has on a clear hydrogel mask too and I love the colours. It has a quirky look to it that would make it a fun gift – or just to collect yourself. Overall, the packaging design is quite normal, but it’s cute!

On the Elizavecca website, you can buy this as a pack of five for 38,000 won or – if you are after an english website – they also sell on many other online stores and platforms too.

So when you open up the mask to apply, it comes in two parts – upper and lower. The material is thin and soft, so I was actually worried that it would rip really easily but, once it dried and I tried to rip it in half, I found out that the mask is really strong too! I had no trouble putting it on and the size was really great, it fit to the contours of my face perfectly and actually did ‘melt’ on in a way. The mask was also super saturated! In fact, I don’t think that I have ever come across a hydrogel mask that had this much essence before and I ended up applying the excess over my neck, arms and legs. It was crazy.

This mask promises:

  • Pore Minimising
  • Moisturising
  • Whitening
  • Skin clearing
  • Wrinkle improvement

As I only received a single sheet mask to use (I wish I got a whole box!) I can’t give much comment on whether it cleared my skin or improved wrinkles – both of these are properties that I would only expect to see over long term use. After a single application though, I did notice some pore improvement (though not strong), subtle brightening and intense, wonderful hydration! I had no break outs and I actually found the mask material so be really soothing so it was comforting to lie in bed with it.

According to the website, their hydrogel composition and manufacturing method is actually patented. The mask is so saturated with product and, after you apply it for a half hour (or so), you will actually notice that the material becomes thinner – this is because the nutrients have been absorbed by your skin. You can actually see this quite visibly.

In addition, I find that hydrogel masks are better at retaining moisture and, if you’re like me and sometimes fall asleep with your masks on, these seem to be a lot better to use than sheet masks which will usually suck the moisture back out of your skin. Wearing this for a little bit longer doesn’t have such adverse effects and the gel mask seems to actually help the product stay on (and get absorbed) for longer.

And here are some awkward selfies with the mask on and my verdict!

WOULD I RECOMMEND?

Absolutely! If you are having trouble with the official Elizavecca website, then I think that it’ll be good to check alternate stockists as well but – as a product – I was super happy with this hydrogel mask and I would recommend it to other people to try as well. I think that this is a great relaxation product. It’s a bit expensive, but you can probably find it on sale at some other stockists too.
