Review: Skin Editor

It’s been a while since I first wrote about Skin Editor – you can find my previous post about them here – but with the launch of some new products and them being stocked with Australia online store Lilac & Berries, I just had to write about them again! This is going to be a brand spotlight post with some first impressions on the new products, which they so kindly sent over for me to try, as well as a recap on the rest of their line which they have also sent over again.

According to Lilac & Berries, “Skin Editor is founded by Morvanic – a company formed by qualified pharmacists. The company is specialized in treating skin post laser, peeling and clinical care. Their products have been distributed exclusively to hundreds of skin clinics in Korea in the last 10 years.

Skin Editor products are introduced to the market for everyday consumer, its products contain EGF, centella asiatica extracts and hydrating properties such as beta glucan.”

As mentioned, Lilac & Berries is Australian and they currently only ship to Australia and New Zealand. This is great for us locals because it means that we won’t have to deal with exorbitant shipping and exchange rates but, for those internationally who wish to purchase, you can buy it on Amazon from Skin Editor.

At the moment, two of Skin Editor‘s products are available for purchase on Lilac & Berries, though I am sure that more of them will be made available later on. Let’s move into the post now!

So the three of their new products are (from left to right): the Hydra Peptide Skin Toner, Eventone Brighten up Skin Toner and the Hydra-Peptide Skin Mist. The first two are, obviously, both skin toners and so it isn’t necessary to use them both. However, they have different functionalities, so it’s best to choose what suits you.

At the moment, I am testing out their Eventone toner to brighten up my complexion and to help with some dullness that I’ve been having lately, as well as to exfoliate and help mend my skin tone which had been ruined by an allergic reaction to another product lately. This one is currently selling on Lilac & Berries for AUD$33 but, for those who are outside of Australia and NZ, this also sells on Amazon for USD$21.99

The Hydra Peptide toner, on the other hand, is primarily for hydration and moisturising – as it helps to prevent water loss and maintain deep moisturization. It also helps to soothe sensitive skin which, in retrospect, I also kind of need at the moment. This is selling on Amazon for USD$21.99 as well.

Another product completely is the Hydra-Peptide Skin Mist, which I have also been testing while at home and found that it has some pros and cons. This one is also a deep hydrating formula which helps to retain moisture and soothe sensitive skin. It is selling on Amazon for USD$14.99

So let me give you some further information on the Eventone toner, which I am using at the moment. According to Lilac & Berries, this is a ‘gentle exfoliating toner with advanced formula and powerful ingredients.’ It uses Niacinamide and AHA (1.2%) ingredients to resurface skin and promote a more even tone, as well as a smoother and softer texture. It helps with improving the signs of aging, as well as lightly exfoliating dead skin cells to give better absorption of active ingredients and removing keratin.

You can find more information on the ingredients on the product page, so I won’t list it out.

This is ideal for people with uneven skin tone, redness, very sensitive skin, pigmentation, rosacea, those with dull/aging skin or those who are looking to tone up (brighten) their skin. I, basically, fall into most of those categories.

I chose to use this product mostly at night, saturating a cotton pad and wiping it from inside out on my face. It does say that you can pat in the product too, but I feel like this motion will help with exfoliation. After some use of it, I definitely feel that my skin is softer and with a smoother texture. The uneven skin tone has improved but isn’t fully recovered yet – as I did have a pretty intense allergy and I will need more time with the product.

Still, I do enjoy it and I will continue to test and use it. I like that it has a refreshing feeling and no noticeable scent, so I’m very comfortable using this every night. It feels really gentle.

This Hydra Peptide toner is, unfortunately, not available on Lilac & Berries yet so I can only rely on the information on Amazon. I did have a quick test of it though and, like the previous product, there was no noticeable scent and the product absorbs quickly. I’ll definitely be giving this a good test soon to see how this compares.

Anyway, here’s some details:

• Deep moisturization and moisture retention – it prevents water loss due to various irritation to dry skin and maintains deep moisturizing for a long time.
• Callus culture extract – It is a special ingredient that is formed by itself in the plant, normalizing the skin turnover cycle and moisturizing it.
• Soothing sensitive skin – Soothing irritated skin from external stimuli to provide comfort.

And (sort of) lastly, is the Hydra Peptide Mist! I’ve been totally loving this product lately but, admittedly, it has it’s strengths and weaknesses. The product description is the same as above, so I will skip that and go right into my experiences using it. This is available on Amazon for USD$14.99

I tried to use this as a over make up skin mist (during the day) as well as as skin care in the morning (underneath my make up and as a primer). As skin care, this mist is really great because the product is extremely hydrating and absorbs quickly. It leaves your skin feeling and staying refreshed throughout the day, although I tend to reapply when ever I feel like it.

However, the spray nozzle for this product is simply too strong. Rather than a mist, I feel like it applies like a water spray and it has a small surface area. In order to cover my entire face, I would need a few sprays, but doing that means that I am basically soaked in product. This isn’t so bad when you’re using it on a bareface and I can just pat it in. However, it also means that this product is not appropriate for use over make up and is better to be kept at home and used in the mornings.

It’s a shame, because I really do love the formula and the packaging is very sturdy and compact. It would have otherwise been perfect to carry around and use throughout the day.

And the rest of the products that they had sent me, I actually reviewed before! You can check out my previous post for in depth information but, otherwise, I’ve popped below a brief overview from their product descriptions. This is essentially a full and complete line of skincare from Skin Editor and, in my experience, I’ve found that it did great things for my skin. I love the professional but also pretty use of colours that they have on their tubes but, rather than being solely pretty and gimmicky, these are products that really work for your skin and they’re most suitable for someone who is after a serious and effective skincare routine.

Since I first tested out their entire line, I haven’t been able to continue using their products because I have had to test more things. However, I have implemented them into my routine when ever suitable and I found that they also play nice with other products – so, if you’re not committed enough to buy yourself an entire set, picking what would be most suitable for you and just using that will also give you great results.

This is the Hydrofil Revitalizing Cream, which is a heavier cream that is best used at night as a night cream. It is currently selling on Amazon for USD$36.99 for those who are international. Here’s some product details:

This one is the Hydrofil Revitalizing Moisturiser, which is a slightly lighter but still very hydrating cream that can be used during the day and under make up. This is selling on Amazon for USD$34.99

The Trefact Revitalizing Essence is, by its name, an essence that helps to brighten skin tone, hydrate and with improve wrinkles. It is very lightweight and cooling on the skin, as well as absorbing relatively quickly. This sells on Amazon for USD$28.99

The Eventone Dark Spots/Scars Corrector is sold on both Lilac & Berries (for AUD$40) and on Amazon. It is a cream texture, high strength serum which is ‘designed to treat erythema, redness, pigmentation including dark spots, sun damages, red acne scars. It also assists in visibly reducing signs of aging without irritation. It diminishes the look of wrinkles and fine lines, reduces visibly dark spots and hyper-pigmentation. Smooths and refines skin’s texture.

Visible results may be expected within 1 to 3 weeks of using depending on your skin issues.’

With regular use of this product, I also found that my skin did not have any sensitivity, unlike a lot of other pigmentation reduction treatments, which makes it suitable for long term use and with sensitive skin. Although the results are more subtle, the product is not harsh and does give visible improvement.

And lastly, one of my favourite products from them is their Hydrofil Revitalizing Sunscreen which has a SPF 50 PA+++ and is a lightweight and quick to absorb sunscreen. It is great for wearing under make up and, for someone like me who has actually had allergic reactions to some sunscreens, this one worked great. In fact, this is the product that actually got me into regular SPF use. It’s easy to apply and spread and, although it does leave a white cast, it’s very faint and not discernible once make up is applied. This is selling on Amazon for USD $24.99

Well, I hope this post wasn’t too confusing with me jumping between two online stores but I did want to talk about how this product is available to many more of us now! When I first reviewed Skin Editor, they were primarily selling in Korea and didn’t have an English website, so I’m very happy and these great products are now expanding out.

You may have noticed that their products are a bit more expensive that the standard road shop brand, so I have to emphasise that these are not ‘fun’ products to play around with, but rather pharmacist developed products that are all about bringing dermatologist care to your home so the price tag is actually relatively decent.
