So many people have been talking about 3CE’s new White Milk line and I was so happy that BB Cosmetic gave me the opportunity to try and review these products. Before receiving them, I had actually not looked into their products aside from the (super cute) packaging. I don’t regularly use any of 3CE’s products but I do love their lip colours – intense pigmentation and trendy packaging. Personally, I’m a little hesitant about using their base products or skin care, only because 3CE is a trend brand and (from what I know) operates as a sub-brand of fashion label Stylenanda. I’m generally very hesitant about brands that do not specialise in skin care but choose to dabble.

For the sake of this review though (and the fact that this really is super cute), I decided why not! Let’s give it a go and find out whether my concerns are true or not.

Below is the cover of the cushion. I love the simple illustration; from a design perspective, it has a lot of personality and really helps to tie in their entire collection. The packaging is plastic and looks a little basic, but is actually quite sturdy. I would be a little worried to carry it around all the time but only because I think the white will dirty easily. The casing doesn’t seem fragile at all.

The cover over the cushion is quite firm, so it keeps the product moisture in well. You’ll have to really push it open. The mirror is a little small for my liking, only because I’m used to the IOPE and Clio cushion packing. It’s pretty obvious that the packaging of this product is targeted towards the young and trend conscious. It is minimalist and elegant, but definitely plays into what is ‘in’ right now.

I like it though. It’s exactly my style!

My IOPE cushion dirtied and got gross pretty quickly, but over a week of use and I find this cushion is holding up pretty well – maybe it’s because of how light this product is.

As you can see… it’s white!

Since I hadn’t looked into the product before, this was a total shock to me. I thought that cushion was a BB cream but, turns out, it’s more like a white base. It is quite scented of milk which, typically, would turn me off, but I actually really like the scent. I found myself smelling it more often than I should have.

There’s the before and after. As you can see, there is very little to no coverage on this product but it does a good job of brightening skin and evening out skin tone. I have been having red patches lately and using this base under my BB cream has been a life saver. Unlike many other whitening products, this is quite moisturising! It’s good for my current skin because my number one concern this Australian winter is dryness.

For people who are lucky enough to have flawless skin but want to brighten up their complexion a little, or even it out slightly, then this product can probably be used alone. It has a light, sheer formula and, unlike most BB creams and foundations, I think that this will be fine for younger people to use too without clogging up their sensitive skin.

So what’s the verdict? Here goes!

SO WHAT IS IT?

A white milk scented air-cushion with a sheer finish and a brightening effect.

THE GOOD

  • Cute, well designed branding
  • Sturdy packaging
  • Pleasant Scent
  • Brightening effect and can even skin tone
  • Dewy, sheer finish

THE BAD

  • White plastic packaging might dirty easily
  • Little to no coverage
  • White colour means it won’t suit darker skin tones

WOULD I REPURCHASE?

Until I find a better brightening base to use, I don’t think this product is bad at all. I would repurchase it, but I don’t think I would rush for it. Overall, it’s good  but hasn’t blown me away. I’ll keep the packaging though, it’s so cute D:

HELPFUL TIP

I use this as a base for my IOPE cushion and I find that the two dewy finishes work together really well and stay on for quite a while too. Test this product underneath your different cushion foundations and focus the application underneath your eyes to minimise dark circles and over any redness or discolouration.

Does this cushion provide any skin care benefits, like whitening the skin over long-term use? Or does it only function as a whitening base?

Officially, it is meant to whiten (as in it will reduce sunspots and discolouration) as well have have an instant whitening effect. However, I’ve been using it and I don’t notice much difference. If you want a good whitening product, then I recommend my favourite Cloud9 collection (I use the cream and serum) or the Vitamin C ampoule from The Face Shop for dark spots (but use this one carefully as Vitamin C can thin out skin).

Thank you for the very thorough and detailed response! I appreciate it. The packaging is adorable, but based on your feedback it seems like a more heavy-duty cream is necessary for actual whitening. I will have to check out the products you mentioned. I’m trying to get rid of tanning and skin discoloration from acne.

You’re welcome! For tanning, I definitely recommend the Cloud9 whitening cream. The serum is nice too (and is quite illuminant so it looks great as a make up base) but I think the cream had more obviously brightening results for me. For targeted skin discolouration, my mother saw visible results using the Vitamin C ampoule from The Face Shop, but note that it isn’t suitable for day time wear as it can make you skin quite sensitive.

I hope it all goes well for you! If you find any great products that help with your skin issues, please do let me know. I’d love to share it with other people too 😀

Thanks so much, Stella! I will have to try out the Cloud9 whitening cream now. I have an order of the SAEM Power Ampoule Whitening and also G9SKIN White In Moisture Cream coming in, so I will try those and let you know how it compares to Cloud9.

You’re welcome! Let me know how the SAEM product goes. I’ve been in their store heaps but I’ve never used anything from them.
