Feature: Three Steps for Calm and Moisturised Skin (SKIN1004’s Hyalu-Cica Collection)

If you’re a fan of Centella Asiatica, or just want something to calm and keep your skin moisturised at the same time, SKIN1004 has got you sorted.

STEP 1 | Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Brightening Toner

The Hyalu-Cica Brightening Toner is a lightweight toner to moisturise and brighten your skin, as well as prepping your skin to better absorb all other products. As the first ‘real’ step in your skincare routine, this should be used after double cleansing. Some key ingredients include:

• Hyalu-Cica: This SKIN1004 ingredient contains a ‘perfected ratio’ of Centella Asiatica extract and five types of Hyaluronic Acid. This works to calm, strengthen, moisturise and rebalance water-oil levels in skin.
• Ceramide Biom: Nano-sized molecules of Ceramide which penetrate deeply into skin to improve elasticity, strengthen your skin barrier and further aid with moisture retention.
• AHA and LHA: Gently exfoliates, helping to remove dead skin cells and residue. Specifically, AHA works to remove surface dead skin cells, whilst LHA removes small residues for a glowing complexion.
• 74% Centella Asiatica Leaf Water: This ingredient is sourced from Madagascar according to SKIN1004‘s high purity and farming standards, working to quickly calm and soothe irritation.

The Brightening Toner has a water-like consistency and absorbs quickly. It can be applied either with your hands or a cotton pad, making it a great option for both your day or night routine. You may also notice that there are some surface bubbles within the bottle; this is a result of the natural surfactants and is totally normal!

This toner is also fragrance free and hypoallergenic.

TIP: On days when you want to deeply moisturise your skin but don’t want anything too heavy, consider layering up your toners right before applying moisturiser. This is called the 7 skin method and is great if you want a naturally plump and dewy look.

STEP 2 | Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Blue Serum

As a second step to your routine, the Hyalu-Cica Blue Serum will build on both calming and moisture benefits. It claims to provide all day hydration, with a lightweight gel-like texture that smooths over skin for a boost of immediate dewiness too.

Some of the key ingredients (a few of which are also in their toner) include:

• Hyalu-Cica: The SKIN1004 blend of Centella Asiatica extract and Hyaluronic Acid (in the ‘perfected ratio’) to calm, strengthen, moisturise and rebalance water-oil levels in skin.
• Ceramide Biom: Nano-sized molecules of Ceramide which absorb deeply into your skin to improve elasticity, strengthen your skin barrier and further aid with moisture retention.
• Five layers of Hyaluronic Acid: Three different sizes of HA molecules which allow for optimum absorption and a long-lasting, hydrating effect.
• Niacinamide and Adenosine: Has whitening (i.e. brightening) and anti-wrinkle benefits.
• Hedera Helix (Ivy) Leaf Extract: A natural ingredient to calm dry and sensitive skin, also known as (English) Ivy Extract

The lightweight, water-based gel consistency of the Blue Serum gives an instant soothing effect over sensitised skin. It still absorbs relatively fast and is totally non-sticky, leaving skin feeling fresh and instantly supple. The refreshing scent is similar to the toner, but doesn’t linger too long.

This serum also does not contain any artificial colours (the pretty blue shade is actually from Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract) and is also fragrance free and hypoallergenic.

TIP: For extremely dry skin, try a second application of this serum after it absorbs for increased efficacy.

STEP 3 | Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Sleeping Pack

And for the final step of your routine, you can’t go past a great sleeping mask. These are applied more generously than your average cream, helping to lock in moisture and treat your skin overnight. With a moisturising and nourishing formula, the Hyalu-Cica Sleeping Pack is a medium-density gel mask. Some key ingredients include:

• Hyalu-Cica: The SKIN1004 blend of Centella Asiatic extract and Hyaluronic Acid (in the ‘perfected ratio’) to calm, strengthen, moisturise and rebalance water-oil levels in skin.
• Ceramide Biom: Nano-sized molecules of Ceramide which absorb deeply into your skin to improve elasticity, strengthen your skin barrier and further aid with moisture retention.
• Melatonin: Naturally created by the body during deep sleep, this helps revitalize skin for a glowing complexion
• Niacinamide and Adenosine: Containing whitening (i.e. brightening) and anti-wrinkle benefits
• Artemisia Herba: Promotes elasticity and protects skin
• Hibiscus Esculentus Extract: Brightens and strengthens skin by protecting your skin barrier

Similar to the Blue Serum, this also has a water-based gel texture that is instantly soothing. Comparatively thicker, this is applied generously like a face mask and will very gradually absorb overnight. It takes quite a while to fully absorb and should be washed off in the morning – thusly, this product should only be used in your evening routine.

As previously, the Sleeping Pack also does not contain any artificial colours and is also fragrance free and hypoallergenic.

TIP: Your sleeping pack can replace your night cream but, for seasons (or skin types) that are extra dry, you can either apply the pack 1.5x thicker or layer it over a nourishing cream.

The entire Hyalu-Cica Collection targets moisture and calming concerns but, as you can see, there are added benefits from the different products too – whether it is their Brightening Toner, Blue Serum or Sleeping Pack. My personal favourite is the Blue Serum, as I love the lightweight gel texture. It gives a boost of moisture and gives skin a supple appearance, making it perfect for my morning routine as well.
