I’m a big fan of the Stila Glitter & Glow Eyeshadows – they are a liquid eyeshadow that delivered an incredible punch of glitter, with minimal to no fall out. They’re really easy to use and apply, which is a new experience for me as I generally don’t like liquid eyeshadows. That, in combination with my love for bright colours, had me really excited that Mecca is finally launching the Stila Vivid & Vibrant collection – which includes the new jewel toned Shimmer & Glows! In addition, this collection also includes the eyeshadow duos – which truthfully have mixed reviews, but I like their products enough to go and try it out for myself.
These products launched at Mecca at the beginning of this month, so this post is only a little late but I wanted to share some of the information on these, as well as discussing why I want/don’t want to pick these up.
Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows | AUD$35
The Shimmer & Glow Eyeshadows were already released, but these are added shades to the range. The new collection includes a range of jewel inspired shades – Amethyst, Labradorite, Sapphire, Smoky Quartz, Jade and Garnet (top to bottom, left to right). Unlike the Glitter versions, these shadows are meant to pack a pigmented punch with a pearlescent shimmer and no glitter. These are more like the traditional liquid eyeshadow that I’m used to.

I love the Glitter & Glow Eyeshadows because they wear really well on my eyes (which are watery and have a tendency to rub any cream or liquid product off) even without a primer. The colour range is also simply stunning and, looking at the photos of these, I’m really keen to give the Shimmer & Glow formula a try too.
I’m especially keen on the Sapphire, Garnet and Amethyst shades; and, even better, I think these are part of the permanent line.
Vivid & Vibrant Eyeshadow Duo | AUD$29
These might be a little more interesting to some people because these are actually limited edition and exclusively part of the fall collection. These are monochromatic eyeshadow duos all in jewel inspired shades (coordinating with the new liquid eyeshadows) – one side is a glitter, while the other is a metallic shimmer eyeshadow.
These are especially great if you’re a fan of a certain colour (i.e. if you are like me and wear purple all the time) and want something that you can easily incorporate into an existing eye look. Since the reviews on this are rather mixed, I would recommend checking these out in-store first.

Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner & Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner | AUD$32
And I wasn’t originally going to write about these but, after seeing these swatches, I’m just so fascinated. I’ve always been a black eyeliner sort of girl and, as much as I think coloured liner looks pretty, it just isn’t something that I would wear a lot. However, these new ‘vibrant’ shades are so pretty – they are a dark eyeliner with a subtle hint of jewel colour, just enough to give a hint of colour while still keeping the lash line darker.
Out of these, I would love to try out the sapphire version (as I find dark blue liners often look blacker than black), as well as the amethyst shades while I think will work well with my usual make up look. Jade would be pretty too, but I don’t personally use green or blue shades enough to justify buying a matching liner. The only ones I’m really not interested in is the Smoky Quartz and the Labradorite, which just seem like a brown and grey liner.
They are quite pricey for an eyeliner, but if they last well enough on my eyes then I would still consider paying that price.
