Review: Flower Beauty

Flower Beauty Makeup Review

This product was sent to me for review purposes.

I don’t know anyone my age who doesn’t know Drew Barrymore; she’s an inspiring American actress who started out as a child star in ET and eventually became also super well known for her work in comedy – Charlie’s Angels, 50 First Dates, The Wedding Singer, Never Been Kissed, Music and Lyrics… goodness, the list just goes on! She is an icon and an inspiring figure who has been outspoken about her early battles with addiction, the impact of Hollywood, and is proof of how someone can fall down and come back stronger than ever.

In addition to watching her movies over and over again, I’ve also really wanted to try out her beauty brand Flower Beauty. Admittedly, I am often a bit skeptical about celebrity brands – too often they feel like unconsidered cash grabs, but this is exceptional. Flower Beauty is all about creating cosmetics that are easy and fun – because you are already beautiful. Their products are cruelty-free, so affordable and yes, Drew Barrymore has done so many videos genuinely talking about and using her own products.

In reviewing the brand, I’ll be sharing with you a number of different products including the Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette, the Day Glow Highlight Glaze, the Lash Warrior Mascara, the Pyramids Cheek Color, and Petal Pout Lip Masks.

These are all currently available at Chemist Warehouse, their official Aussie stockist, and everything is under AUD$10! You can shop them at selected stores or online (use my ShopBack Referral Link for extra cashback too).

Before you do that though, let’s get into this!

Review: Genie Beauty

Genie Cosmetics Beauty Review Brand Spotlight

I have two places that I tend to work at – in an office, where I can spend up to seven or eight hours in front of my computer, or on location when I am shooting under various different weather conditions. I’m not someone who likes to go through my days bare faced though and base make up, eyeliner, blush and lip balm are my daily neccessities. For this reason, I’m always looking for products that have great longevity as well as look good on my skin. Wanting to put together a list of ‘office essentials’, I was recommended to try a collection of products from Genie Beauty – a brand that is sold via TVSN. After looking though the wide range of products that I offer, I decided to try out a few different things from them: a base powder, a colour correcting powder and two mascaras – which I had tested as a set.

A lot of Genie Beauty products are targeted towards a more mature audience, with a lot of anti-aging care, but this doesn’t mean that it isn’t suitable for younger skin. Out of the products that I tried, their formulas are light and effective, with a focus on giving you a beautiful – but natural – finish. This brand focus comes from their story, where the creator Lisa Claycomb originally developed the Instant Line Smoother (a clear cosmetic to instantly smooth away the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, bags and puffiness) for her mother. Although I didn’t try that product, I’m definitely keen on giving in a shot in the future.

Instead, let’s move on to what I do have!

Top 10 Makeup Products of 2016

Top 10 Makeup Products 2016 Review List

With the new year slowly approaching, it seems only appropriate to do a wrap up post! I’ll be (hoping) to do two of these, so first up is my Makeup post! In my first year of blogging, I realised that I like to test out make up products more than I do skincare – even though I am an absolute geek for a thorough and well considered skincare routine. Perhaps this is because I’m not a very patient person and I like something where I can see results right away. In addition, I do wear quite a bit of make up every day of the week for work, so finding the perfect products is really important to me. I am someone with rather temperamental skin conditions (sometimes very oily and sometimes ridiculously dry) and sensitive eyes, so I am quite strict sometimes on the products that I love and I don’t.

For this reason, I am sometimes a bit of a stickler for brand choices. My brand choices for this year have mainly centred about long-lasting power, high pigmentation and my beloved dewy finishes. Clio remains on top as one of my favourites, with 3CE being a very strong contender in some areas and LUNA being a surprising – but not that surprising – new obsession of mine.

If you’re interested in reading about my top choices (and yes, of course you are) then click on! These products are in no particular order but are all products that I loved and used continuously throughout the year.

Review: Delight Circle Lens Mascara (Tonymoly)

Tonymoly Delight Circle Lens Mascara KollectionK Kbeauty Review

I have something to confess – I don’t wear mascara as often as I should (and by should, I mean as often as it seems other people do). Ever since I started reading fashion magazines as a kid, I would often hear the legends about people who just wore mascara for their daily make up and  yet still had this lusciously long, defined eyes. I’ve tried – really I have – but I was never able to achieve that. Blessed with short, sparse and stubborn eyelashes, I have clipped myself with curlers, gotten mascara on the bridge of my nose and, at my most dedicated stage, tried a good five layers!

Does this all sound a little overdramatic? Okay, perhaps it is, but I have a point, I swear!

Lately, I’ve had a newfound love for mascaras and I’ve been trying a lot of different formulas to see what works best for my super stubborn lashes. I’ve found other formulas that work best for me, focusing on lengthening or creating volume, as well as ensuring that the product is actually waterproof. Although it is best not to use that type of formula every day, I personally don’t have much of a choice because I have strong hayfever and very water-y eyes.

So today’s review (which unfortunately is a little bare on photos) is of Tonymoly’s Delight Circle Lens Mascara (Curling) which was sent to me by KollectionK for review. There are three different formulas for this product and I chose the curling version because my lashes are almost impossible to keep curled and I wanted a challenge.
