Diary: Pony x Shiseido Masterclass

Pony Shiseido Masterclass

When I first got into kbeauty, I started to follow a handful of makeup artists and influencers on Youtube – one of the first being Pony. She’s a very famous Korean youtuber who got her start with a makeup blog and a resulting how-to book, but she has since moved on to be a beauty creator with her own channel and a bunch of brand collaborations. I respect her a lot as a beauty influencer, as I find that she has a lot of personal tips to share, which are especially good for people wanting to improve their own skills or to experiment (but perhaps not as relevant for professional make up artists). That being said, when I found out that she was coming to Sydney for a Masterclass, I bought tickets right away!  All of her videos and tutorials are great for people who want to improve and learn to do make up for themselves (me included), while also exploring some more professional and artistic techniques and styles too.

I was also really excited because I rarely get the chance to meet these big Youtubers in person – especially one from Asia! Only a handful of people will come to Australia so most of our events are generally Aussie Youtubers only. I was also really excited to see Pony in person because… goodness, she is just so pretty and I think I just needed visual proof that she actually exists in this realm. LOL.

This isn’t going to be much of a blog post but I generally just wanted to share some photos from the day. Here we go!

Review: Double Wear Nude (Estee Lauder)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup Foundation Beauty Review

As I am almost finished my bottle of Fenty Beauty foundation, I figured that it would be a good time to open up something new. I really love that foundation and have every intention of repurchasing it but, since I like to test and write about new products, to urge to throw my money at something else was too great to pass up. So, instead of buying myself a second bottle of that foundation (which has a very thin consistency, but also medium buildable coverage and super matte), I figured that I would change things up by trying something dewier.

When I was in Canada, I took a (very) short visit to the Duty Free store at the border. I had around twenty or thirty minutes only, so I grabbed things fairly quickly – a few items that I had been eying at YSL and this foundation from Estee Lauder! I actually thought that I’d bought the original Double Wear Foundation at first, which is a cult favourite super high coverage matte foundation, but didn’t realise until much later that I’d bought the ‘nude’ version.

So, this is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude foundation. It is a much lighter coverage and natural version of the original double wear. I can’t remember how much I bought this for in Canada but the Australian Estee Lauder website sells this for AUD$58 – which would be an alright price, if the foundation came with a pump! Instead, I ended up going to buy that separately for AUD$10 at the Myer counter. I didn’t photograph that below though, as I took these images prior to using the product.

And so, let’s just straight into the review!

Diary: Myer Beauty Masterclasses | Meeting Tina Yong and Learning from YSL

Myer Beauty Masterclass YSL

I found out about the Myer Masterclasses on Instagram via Tina Yong‘s Instagram – where she advertised that she would be holding some lessons at the department store that is close-ish to my work place. I really didn’t want to miss out on these, partly because I’m a big fan of her videos (and I’ve been binge watching the Tina Tries It series pretty often) and also because the prices were pretty good.

In addition to this class with Tina, I also chose to attend two other masterclasses with another two brands – YSL, which was on the same day, and MAC Cosmetics, which is next week. The brand masterclasses were AUD$25 each and the lesson with Tina Yong was AUD$50 – both of these classes also include gifts from the brands which more than make up for the cost of the seat.

Both of these classes have different topics. For Tina’s class, it was mainly about easy and useable daily make up tips (focusing on a fresh and radiant look) which are suitable for people on the go. I ended up attending these class with two of my friends but I went to the YSL class alone – this was more about night time make up and introduced a lot of the YSL brand (and I love their brand).
