I don’t know anyone my age who doesn’t know Drew Barrymore; she’s an inspiring American actress who started out as a child star in ET and eventually became also super well known for her work in comedy – Charlie’s Angels, 50 First Dates, The Wedding Singer, Never Been Kissed, Music and Lyrics… goodness, the list just goes on! She is an icon and an inspiring figure who has been outspoken about her early battles with addiction, the impact of Hollywood, and is proof of how someone can fall down and come back stronger than ever.
In addition to watching her movies over and over again, I’ve also really wanted to try out her beauty brand Flower Beauty. Admittedly, I am often a bit skeptical about celebrity brands – too often they feel like unconsidered cash grabs, but this is exceptional. Flower Beauty is all about creating cosmetics that are easy and fun – because you are already beautiful. Their products are cruelty-free, so affordable and yes, Drew Barrymore has done so many videos genuinely talking about and using her own products.
In reviewing the brand, I’ll be sharing with you a number of different products including the Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette, the Day Glow Highlight Glaze, the Lash Warrior Mascara, the Pyramids Cheek Color, and Petal Pout Lip Masks.
These are all currently available at Chemist Warehouse, their official Aussie stockist, and everything is under AUD$10! You can shop them at selected stores or online (use my ShopBack Referral Link for extra cashback too).
Before you do that though, let’s get into this!
Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette | AUD$6.99
This is a three pan highlighting palette with a long wearing formula of soft, shimmering metallic powders for multi-dimensional radiance. It claims to be universally flattering with a soft-focus and silky finish and contains three shades – beige, rose gold and gold. The palette also comes with a flat brush which can be used for blending out the product, though I personally prefer to use my own.
According to the official website, Drew’s tip is not to overdo it – only a light dab of product is needed. And she’s definitely right because these are absolutely blinding. I’d also recommend to go in light handed, even with a fan brush, and then building up the pigmentation.
Packaging
As I previously mentioned, this product comes in a three pan palette with an included flat brush. The compact is made from a glossy white plastic with a clear window front and rose gold foil details for the logo. The aesthetic for this is quite nice – it’s simple and I like that it’s understated. It looks drugstore but is still amazing quality for the price point and lightweight. The closure also clicks in securely, but is easy to open even with longer nails. I also like the simplicity of the shape (not bulges or rounded sides) which makes it easy to stack.
My main complaint with this would be the brush and this is more of a personal thing. The bristles are quite soft and seem to be of a nice quality, but I know that I would never reach for it. I would rather not have the brush and have a smaller compact. That being said though, the Flower Beauty brand is all about ease of use and affordability, so I can see how this brush would be useful for a large percentage of the target audience.
Personal Experiences
So I love this palette and I’ve been reaching for it every time that I do my make up. The colour so blinding that I have to consciously remind myself to use less than I’m used to. I mostly use the first two shades (beige and rose gold), as the third is too yellow on my skin tone, but I still think this is a great deal for the price point. The actual formula is silky soft and, in my opinion, right up there with the Maybelline Master Chrome as one of my favourite highlighters. Just be a little careful when you’re opening it up as a light knock of your brush handle or nail will dent the pan!
Longevity wise, I also find that it wears really well. It softens a bit as I tend to apply powder over the day but, aside from that, the pigmentation stays bright and doesn’t leave any gray cast. My skin still looks great at the end of the day and this doesn’t transfer onto clothes. However, I do need to warn that this product, as with any other metallic toned highlighter, may accent texture. I didn’t have any issue with it personally but it may be something to keep in mind.
Here’s the verdict!

THOUGHTS? I am so in love with this palette and, whilst I can find some ‘cons’ in it, I still think that this is an amazing product – especially at around AUD$7 (for reference, the W7 Very Vegan Highlighting Powder is AUD$5 for one shade). I have fair skin, so I would definitely recommend this for fair to light skin tones. I haven’t seen it applied on medium to dark tones yet though so please let me know in the comment section if this works for you too!
Day Glow Highlight Glaze | To Be Updated
For those who like cream highlighters over powder, then you may be interested in the Day Glow Highlight Glaze instead. This is described as a dewy, glass-like sheen in a single swipe with a lightweight, glossy formula infused with ultra-fine pearl. This is also a product that is best applied with your fingers, as the warmth will help it to melt into skin.
The highlighters comes in two shades – Stunner (a lighter, champagne tone) and Ablaze (a warmer, golden tone). I actually have Ablaze and, at first, wasn’t sure that it would work on my skin tone. However, I find that the pigmentation is very flexible. You can be light handed or build it up, so I really think that this would be suitable for a wide range of skin tones.
Packaging
The packaging for the Day Glow Highlight Glaze is quite simple and fuss-free. The compact uses a standard clear plastic, with confetti like rose gold detailing. It’s slim and compact, making it suitable for carrying around to touch up during the day. The clear cover also works well in this instance, since it allows you to see the product shade at a glance, whilst the print somewhat integrates the pan colour into the design.
It may not be as aesthetically pleasing once you’ve really dug into the product but, all in all, I like it’s practicality and simplicity.
Personal Experiences
I’m used to using cream-to-powder formulas so this actually surprised me at first because this is almost balm-like. It is a little bit tacky on first application and takes quite a long time to set – it doesn’t slip or slide throughout the day, but this setting time is something to be aware of.
When I tried tried this out, I realised too late that I had already powdered my skin so I sprayed over with a finishing spray to make sure my base makeup was slightly dampened. After that, application was really easy – I just picked up the product with my fingers and then dabbed it onto the high points of my face. Although there’s a slight tackiness, it didn’t disturb my base make up at all and was relatively easy to blend out. I also tried it with a sponge, but it doesn’t seem to pick up product from the pan.
The Day Glow Highlighter Glaze has a very natural, dewy skin effect. It isn’t as ‘blinding’ as a powder formula, but is also a lot kinder on texture. This would be great for people who like dewy or radiant foundation products, or want a natural no-makeup sort of highlighter. I also got a compliment on this highlighter on the first day that I wore this, so very happy with that!
Here’s the verdict!

- Easy to use and travel friendly packaging
- Doesn’t accent texture
- Easy finger application – does not disturb base makeup
- Lasts very well throughout the day

THE BAD
- Slight tackiness on first application
- Takes quite a long time to set

OVERALL RATING? 7.6/10
THOUGHTS? I definitely enjoyed using this though I don’t think it’s for everyone. Since I’m used to powder formulas (or even cream-to-powder), I will likely need to remind myself to reach for this. However, I do think it would come in very handy for no-foundation days. That being said though, the colour and reflect of this is really quite pretty – I would recommend it for fans of cream/balm highlighters, in particular people who like natural make up looks.
BONUS TIP: Cream foundations should not be applied over powder make up – whether it is a blush, setting powder or foundation. There is really no exception to this rule. As a work around though, I would suggest spraying your face with finishing spray first to help that powder melt into the skin, and then applying this.
Lash Warrior Mascara | AUD$6.99
Every drugstore brand needs their trademark mascara, and the Lash Warrior is just that. Available in three shades (Fierce Brown, Fierce Black and Fiercest Black), this formula claims to give over 150% volume as well as extreme lengthening. It uses the brand’s exclusive Spiked Warrior Brush to give full, clump-free coverage and definition.
From the product description, I didn’t see anything about it being water proof so I was initially worried about using this – I have very watery eyes and regular mascaras often end up at my chin. However, I experienced no smudging with this so can say that it is water resistant at minimum.
Packaging (Tube & Brush)
The packaging for the Lash Warrior Mascara is actually quite bulky; which seems to be the norm for most drugstore brands. The tube has a curved shape, made from a matte black plastic with rose gold detailing. I like the colour, but feel like the overall design is just too much for me. The waves shape doesn’t make thing any easier to hold, nor do I have any issue with straight tubes – the only impact it has is being bulkier when trying to store.
I do know that some people really like this type of design though – it just isn’t for me. I wish that they had gone with a simple tube and type. That all being said though, the quality is still on the average side – takes a bit of effort to full close the tube but doesn’t feel flimsy.
Opening it up, you’ll find what they are calling the Spiked Warrior Brush (scroll down). The brush has a slight curve, which helps to reach closer to the roots of the lashes, and the close spiked design makes application clean and clump-free. I find that the brush is a little too big for me to go into my smaller lashes, but in general didn’t have a hard time with this.
Personal Experiences
As I previously mentioned, I was worried about using this mascara because the description didn’t specify that it was waterproof – but I was pleasantly surprised! The formula applied quite wet so took a moment to dry but, once it did, it didn’t smudge at all. It also lifted easily with an oil cleanser, no rubbing necessary.
The mascara does a great job of coating the lash without clumping together, which can be easily attributed to that brush design. I didn’t notice much lengthening (as my natural lashes are very short) but I did see visible volumising effect. On the downside though, the wet formula didn’t keep my lashes lifted – my lashes are naturally very straight so don’t hold curls for long anyway, but this mascara pulled them down almost right away.
All in all though, I think this is a good product for the price. It has great volumizing benefits, the brush is great and the formula seems to be both water resistant and easy to remove. I think that people with naturally longer lashes would getting the best effect from this, though I will still continue to use this myself.
Here’s the verdict!
SO WHAT IS IT?
A volumizing mascara with a spiked brush for clump-free application
THE GOOD
- Amazing price point
- Three shade options
- Great formula (stays put and is easy to remove)
- Clump-free application with the spiked brush
- Visible volumising effect
THE BAD
- Bulky packaging
- Minimal lengthening effect
- Wet formula – can pull down stubborn, straight lashes

OVERALL RATING? 7/10
THOUGHTS? I enjoyed this mascara and will definitely continue to use it. Although it isn’t perfect for me, as I honestly just have very tough lashes, it is still a good product. For this price point too, I would happily recommend for people to try this out and see how it works for them!
Pyramids Cheek Color (Rose Glow) | AUD$9.79
Another product that I was really interested to get into was the Pyramids Cheek Color. When I think of Flower Beauty, I feel like they are more known for their Flower Pots Powder Blush (which is super pretty and yes, I’ll be picking up too), but I feel like this is an underrated product. As a hybrid blush and highlighter, this is great for people who love a glowing, radiant complexion. This is especially suitable for people who already place their blush fairly high on the cheeks, as the placement would be spot on.
Described as a “mosaic of pigmented perfection,” this pan contains four different shades to great a soft flush on the cheeks. This is available in two colours: Rose Glow (which is the one I have) and Peach Glow (which, as the name suggests, leans to a peachy tone). Depending on the size of your brush, you can also tap into the top left corner (the highlighter shades only) if you want to amplify the highlight too.
Packaging
The packaging for this blush is probably more typical drugstore style than the others – to be honest, it doesn’t excite me personally, but there’s nothing fundamentally wrong with it. The case is made from a decent quality plastic with a fluffy transparent front. It also has some rose gold detail on the logo and the inside of the compact (see below). This blush doesn’t come with any brush or applicator, which is usually fine for me, but this is not a product that I would not recommend using your fingers for – therefore, this isn’t a touch up friendly product.
I feel like the case is also a bit bulkier than necessary. When you look at it from the side, the product area only covers around 50% of the thickness – I feel like this compact could be streamlined to be easier storage. That being said though, I like that the simple square space is easy to stack and, since the front is fully clear, it’s easy to see the shade that you’re reaching for.
All in all, the quality of the packaging is pretty decent for this price point – it just isn’t my favourite design wise.
Personal Experiences
Above is the product applied on my skin and you can see how gorgeous that glow is. I would definitely recommend to swirl your brush into all of the colours for your initial application to get an even pigmentation – you can also build up the colour very easily, so it’s best to start off light branded. Afterwards, it’s also up to you if you want to boost that glow a little more (though I have never need to).
One thing that I have to point out is that this product is a lot softer and more delicate than I initially thought! I went in to do a finger swatch at first and almost destroyed the pyramids – I ended up with a quick mess of powder crumbled in the pan. Instead, this product is best applied with a fluffy blush brush to maintain the prettiness of the design and to prevent picking up too much product.
Here’s the verdict!
SO WHAT IS IT?
A hybrid blush and highlighter in a single pan of four shades
THE GOOD
- Great price point
- Stackable and decent quality packaging
- Beautifully radiant finish
- Soft formula with great pigmentation – a little goes a long way
- Relatively smooth finish (doesn’t accent texture like the highlighter palette)
THE BAD
- Packaging design isn’t the best – can be streamlined
- Not the most touch-up/travel friendly
- Soft formula; finger application not recommended
- Limited shade range (either pink or peach)

OVERALL RATING? 7.7/10
THOUGHTS? For my personal make up routine, this actually works really well. I find that I reach for it fair often, especially on mornings when I am quite rushed. The Rose Glow shade is also very flattering on my skin tone so I can recommend this for neutral fair to light complexions. If you’re into matte blushes, then you may like the Flower Pots better. However, this is an affordable, radiant dream come true for glow lovers.
Petal Pout Lip Mask | AUD$6.99
Available in six shades, the Petal Pout Lip Mask is a daily lip treatment that can also be used as a lip colour. Infused with mango and cocoa butter, this claims to nourish and moisturise lips as well as giving a soft tint of colour. Each one also has a unique scent too, which is a fun addition. Shades (and scents) are as follows:
- Starlit – Vanilla Mango
- Lucky – Sweet Honey
- Nectar – Buttercream Frosting
- Smooch – Lemon Sugar
- Pucker – Rose Buds
- Sangria – Berry Punch
The two shades that I have are Lucky, which is honey scented with a gold glitter shade, and Sangria, which has smooth berry colour and scent. As I mentioned earlier, the colour pay-off for these is very subtle and sheer so looks mostly like a tinted gloss. It can also be used over other lipsticks too if you want stronger pigmentation.
Packaging
The unit carton that these Petal Pout Lip Masks come in is quite pretty. The actual tube can be seen from the clear window, so you know your shade, and the rest of the box is white with plenty of rose goal foil details. It’s really quite pretty.
Opening it up, the tube is made from plastic – the quality is actually quite decent though it’s so lightweight that, on first impression, might feel cheap. However, I actually really like what they’ve done here and I think they’ve focused on making this functional and easy to use on the go. The tube actually uses an airless pump to dispense the product (just twist counter clockwise) – it takes a few turns at first but otherwise is really easy to use. It means that you can easily control how much product you’re using and that you won’t be contaminating the rest of the lip mask if you want to apply it over a lipstick. It also comes with an additional cap for the top of the dispenser, which you can replace to ensure your mask stays mess free.
Keep in mind that this is also like AUD$6.99 – which is quite affordable considering that drugstore lip glosses can be over AUS$10 (I couldn’t find a tube lip mask to compare this to). All in all, the design and thoughtfulness behind this packaging is evident – it sits comfortably being both affordable and highly functional. Definitely something that I wouldn’t mind repurchasing if it gets too scuffed.
Personal Experiences
Above for my lip swatches of the two. I have to say that the colour tint is a little more obvious in real life, but it’s still super subtle. The Sangria berry shade is just enough so that I don’t look too pale whilst the glitter in Lucky would be a cute lip topper (but unlikely something I would use alone). The formula is non-sticky and feels smooth on lips, but is super moisturising. You don’t need to layer on too much of it for any dryness to just melt away 🙂
This is likely something that I would keep in my make up bag. My lips can get quite dry on days when I’m wearing lip tints or matte colours, so think would be nice to pop on in the afternoon (using the remaining stain as extra colour) or even over other products. I also like wearing lip masks at night, but I would likely save these for day time use since they have some cosmetic effect.
Here’s the verdict!
SO WHAT IS IT?
A twist up lip mask with a subtle hint of colour
THE GOOD
- Great price point
- Easy to use and travel friendly packaging
- Mess-free packaging design
- Smooth and non-sticky formula
- Instantly moisturises lips
THE BAD
- Plastic tube can feel cheap and might be scratched in travel
- Very subtle colour tint – nearly not visible

OVERALL RATING? 6.7/10
THOUGHTS? It’s unfortunate about how subtle the pigmentation is because I would have rated this higher otherwise. The colour is so sheer that I would almost consider it clear, though I have given it a 2 because it is actually marketed as being very light. Still, I appreciate the thought that had gone into the packaging design and I think this is a great formula too. It’s something I would repurchase myself and also recommend to anyone concerned with dry lips, or those who love a glossy look but want something that will also keep lips soft.
And those are the products that I’ve been trying out from Flower Beauty! Have you used anything from the brand before? Definitely let me know your recommendations so I can try out more. My easy favourites of the lot are the Shimmer & Strobe Highlighting Palette and the Pyramids Cheek Color – so if the brand is new to you, then I highly recommend to start there.
