Xmas Shopping Guide 2020 - Header

Last updated 2 November 2020

It’s that time of the year again – holiday releases are coming. I’ve been keeping an eye on some of these launches and, while some brands have slacked off a little in 2020 (understandable given how the pandemic has impacted everything), there are still a lot of great ones! From celebratory eyeshadow palettes to brilliant skincare sets – there’s so much to choose from.

It would be exhaustive to include absolutely everything, so this article mostly features things that I’m personally interested in trying or think would be a great gift option. Most, if not all, of these will be beauty related and available either in Australian stockists or online – all information which you will find here, of course.

Please note that this list is also being updated as new announcements are made so let me know if there’s a brand or release you think I should add in!

Now let’s start shopping!

New Release: Too Faced Tutti Frutti launches at Mecca

Tutti Frutti Too Faced at Mecca Maxima

Being Australia, we often get releases later than other countries so I don’t always write about them (nor do I get the chance to try them on time for the post to actually be relevant). When Too Faced first announced the Tutti Frutti collection, I was super excited because the concept and packaging of it was just so cute – and not overdone like some other releases. However, I first thought that this was never going to come to our shores, since it was an Ulta exclusive, but it’s finally here at Mecca Maxima!

There was a pre-release for Level 3 members maybe two weeks ago but, for everyone else, this collection is dropping in just two days on January 30th. From Mecca

Introducing a new fabulous and fruity line from Too Faced, just in time for Summer!  It’s impossible not to be the life of the party with these feminine pops of colour, infused with juicy scents and party-ready sparkle. Wrapped in playful prints and modern packaging, the collection includes 53 brand new products such as candy glaze lip glosses, sparkling eye shadows and refreshing cucumber and watermelon-infused foundations that turn any moment into a celebration.

So, let’s get right into this because I want to share details on every product in this new release and my personal thoughts on whether I’ll be buying them!

Review: Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer (Too Faced)

Too Faced Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer

If there is anything that Too Faced is really good at, then it’s definitely packaging. They always have this way of making things super cute, almost a little bit childish, but still maintaining their high quality and appealing to their adult audience (because they are a high end brand, they are not children’s make up even if their blusher is shaped like a peach). Even if I haven’t loved every release from them, and haven’t agreed with everything they have done, they consistently impress me with how covetable their products are.

And that is exactly what propelled me to buy this, even though I knew that I hated the scent! This is the Too Faced Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer – which is part of their permanent Peaches & Cream Collection (and hence has that signature sweet fig cream scent). Although this is marketed as a bronzer, I have primarily used it as a blush due to the slight pink tones in the pan and also the fact that I don’t really use bronzer all that much.

So, read on and let’s get into the review so you can get a better look at how pretty this is!

Review: Peach My Cheeks Melting Powder Blush (Too Faced)

Too Faced Peaches and Cream Peach my Cheeks Melting Powder Blush

I got this blush from the Too Faced Peaches & Cream collection for my birthday and, honestly, the little story behind it makes me so happy (and although I don’t think my friends will be reading this review, I will still thank them here for being thoughtful). The story behind them choosing this blush is that I’ve nagged them a lot about using their fingers for make up application – I generally don’t like to use my hands for anything, even though I went a long time applying my BB cream with nothing but my fingertips. Because of that, I have difficulty with most cream based products, whether it is eyeshadow, highlighter or blush. Even if it’s a great formula, I won’t reach for it because it doesn’t fit into my make up routine so my friends made sure that this was a product that could be used with a brush!

This is the Peach my Cheeks Melting Powder Blush, which has a cream to powder formula that actually applies best with a brush (surprising since it is technically a cream blusher). The fact that I reach for this blush over many others so often proves this point – because I wouldn’t use it otherwise. It has easily become one of my favourite products in this collection and my only disappointment is that there isn’t a bigger shade range. According to the Mecca website, this comes in six shades (of which I have one so far) and there is also a similar highlighter and bronzer shade.

If you’re keen to get your hands on this, you can find it at Mecca for AUD$44 or on the official Too Faced website for USD$30 depending on where you’re from. Otherwise, let’s jump into the review!

Review: Peach Perfect Foundation (Too Faced)

Too Faced Peach Perfect Foundation

Ever since I finished up my Fenty Beauty Foundation, I’ve seen on the search for another foundation that would be as good (or at all comparable) to it – after all, that one has ended up being my HG foundation! After trying out a lot of them, both foundations and cushions, I have found another that works perfectly for my skin and ticks (nearly) all of my boxes.

This is the Peach Perfect Foundation by Too Faced, which recently launched at Mecca Maxima in Australia and was on my first Want (Don’t) Need post – it is a matte finish foundation that is meant to be oil-free, oil controlling, without flash back and long wearing (up to 14 hours). It is selling for AUD$52, which is about the same price as other high end foundation, and comes in twenty shades; which is something that I need to touch on.

At the moment, this is a product that I’m reaching for pretty much every day. For myself, it is nearly perfect and I’m really confident to be recommending this to others with combination normal-oily, to oily skin.

So, read on for the full review!
