As someone who gets breakouts every few weeks and also has combination skin, I’m always on the look out for an acne treatment that can be used specifically in problem areas without affecting my entire face. And yes, AXIS-Y has answered my (or our) calls! The formulation of the Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment was inspired by their community. After coming across numerous stories from people struggling with self-confidence due to acne, AXIS-Y specially formulated this to spot target breakouts and blemishes.
I’ve been using this for the past three weeks in addition to a more moisturising skincare routine due to the seasonal changes. So far, I’ve been seeing great results so I’m really excited to be sharing this. The Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment is now available on the website for just USD$16 – which is a great price, in my opinion!

Product Description
According to the website, the Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment is a lightweight gel texture infused with Ceramide capsules. It was formulated for acne-prone, oily and sensitive skin to treat breakouts and blemishes, as well as help restore the skin barrier. As a spot treatment, this should be applied onto problem areas only and then followed up with the rest of your skincare routine.
It is also part of AXIS-Y‘s ‘611 series’, meaning that it is formulated using 6 base ingredients, 1 core ingredient, and 1 effective technology. A break down of the ingredients and their effects as below:
Base Ingredients
- Tea Tree Extract: Soothes skin, reduces irritation, as well as helping to dry out break outs
- Green Tea Leaf: Calming and controls sebum
- Camphor Leaf: Anti-bacterial and Anti-fungal benefits
- Mentha Aquatica: Revitalizing irritated skin
- Licorice Root: Contains antioxidants to help protect skin
- Broadleaf Bamboo: Anti-inflammatory benefits
Core Ingredient
- 4-Terpineol: As the main active ingredient found in Tea Tree, this has Antibacterial and Antioxidant properties to help dry out breakouts and blemishes
Effective Technology
- PHYTO-OLIGO 1%: A plant-derived phyto complex containing hollyhock flower and aloe vera extracts. It’s non-irritating, moisturising and is very suitable for sensitive skin.
Packaging
The unit carton design is very similar to other AXIS-Y products and uses a matte finish, cream cardboard with a clean, minimalist print. It features simple typography as well as the ‘6+1+1 Advanced Formula‘ graphic. Overall, the design has a high end feel but is still quite youthful. I also like that it has an authenticity QR code to seal the box.
Opening it up, you’ll find the product is housed in a 15mL glass bottle with a matching cream label. It also has a translucent green cap design – visually, it’s consistent with the rest of the brand’s designs and the colour coincidentally complements the pink formula too. It’s pretty and I have no issues with it becoming loose or impairing functionality.
The dropper works well too. This sort of applicator makes it easy to control how much you dispense and also means that you can apply the treatment directly onto skin.
Overall, I like the quality of the packaging – it’s also lightweight and compact, making it a great option for travel. AXIS-Y has a strong brand image that is consistent across all of their products, so I also really like how it sits together. The only thing that surprised me was the size of the product – perhaps because I have it sitting next to my serums, it looks quite small. However, a little goes a long way so this bottle will still last me a good amount of time.
As a gifting option, I think that AXIS-Y would look great as a set – the packaging is pretty and cohesive! If you are looking to give this to someone, I would recommend either one of their curated sets (available on the AXIS-Y website) or just a simple routine of products.
Personal Experiences
As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been using this product for the past few weeks and I can definitely see the results.
The Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment has a gel texture with suspended ‘bubbles’, which burst and mix upon application. It’s lightweight – it’s easy to spread and tap over problem areas. It absorbs well into my skin too, giving an immediately soothing sensation that just feels really nice! I also think that it works well with other products, so can be easily integrated into what ever your routine is.
However, I would recommend to use this every second day depending on your skin type and condition. I found that my skin became quite dry so I adjusted how often I used it and then integrated a richer night cream (rather than my typical gel formulas) to counteract it.
After just a week of use, my active breakouts have greatly reduced – even my scarring seems to have lightened, though it may just be because I am not getting as many new blemishes. From how much is left in my bottle, I think that I’ll get a solid 2-3 months of use, depending on how my skin continues to behave.
And here’s my verdict!
SO WHAT IS IT?

- CALMING/SOOTHING | 4/5

OVERALL RATING? 9/10
WOULD I RECOMMEND?
As a spot treatment, I think that it would work best for people with normal, combination or oily skin types – since the formula can get a little drying (most likely due to the Tea Tree Extract). I saw really good results using this every second day and I’ll be continuing to integrate this into my skincare routine. I would definitely recommend checking it out, but make sure to be using a good moisturiser in addition!
