I have to say – MAC Cosmetics is always killing it when it comes to limited edition releases. Since I always love their formulas to begin with, I always get so excited when something new drops: whether it’s because of the pretty packaging or exclusive shades. This year’s Lunar New Year collection didn’t disappoint at all! The Lunar Luck Collection featured a range of lip, cheek and eye products in new shades and incredible, Year of the Tiger inspired packaging.
Although it’s a bit late now, I wanted to show the pieces that I got from this collection. Most of these are still available on the MAC Cosmetics website but only while stocks last, so jump on quick if you still want to pick them up!
Extra Dimension Skinfinish (Lunar Lights) | Sold Out
I’m starting off on a high note with what is undeniably the most beautiful product in this collection. The Lunar Lights highlighter is a warm, light gold shade with a smooth, lit-from-within luminosity. It’s super wearable and also really flattering on skin – I tend to reach for this a lot. It also features a gorgeous pen design that is inspired by symbols of fortune and good luck. In fact, see those round coins? Those are Ancient Chinese coins!
Powder Kiss Liquid Lipstick (Peachy Party & Luck Be a Lotus) | AUD$39
If you love mousse liquid lips, then you’re going to love this formula! Inspired by the Powder Kiss lipstick (more on that next), this as a whipped texture and a moisturising, soft-matte finish that gives a blurred lip look and up to ten hours of hydration. It also has an hourglass-shaped applicator that makes application smooth and easy. The Lunar Luck collection features this product in four shades: Fortune Tell Me, Peachy Party, Token of Affection and Luck Be a Lotus.
Powder Kiss Lipstick | AUD$36
I’m honestly in love with the Powder Kiss Lipstick formula and I’m not surprised that it’s being featured in this collection. It’s formulated with the look of feathered, gradient lips in mind; which explains why it’s so popular in Asia! Totally weightless, it has a a moisture-matte finish that uses moisturising powder pigments to condition the lips – the result is the soft look of a matte lipstick, and the comfortable feel of a balm. The Lunar Luck collection features this product in four shades: Enveloped in Luck, Push Your Luck, If Wishes Were Roses and Pure Luck.
Did you pick up anything from this collection? It’s going to be totally gone soon, so definitely head in quick if something’s caught your eye. In addition to these formulas, there is also a dazzling eyeshadow palette and two brushes that were available in this collection (at the time of writing, the brushes are also sold out).
