When BB Cosmetic approached me to collaborate again, I asked them about any new brands that they might be bringing in and wanting me to try out. They were quick to recommend Lagom, which is actually a very new name to me – in fact, I hadn’t even heard about them before this. They are a relatively new addition to the BB Cosmetic offerings and, from what I can see, are an indie kbeauty brand that focuses a lot on whitening/brightening skincare products – which are totally down my alley.

The brand was launched by Kowon, a very experienced celebrity make up artist from Korea. Although her expertise is in cosmetics, her work in the industry made her realise that the most important thing is to have healthy, hydrated and radiant skin. She worked together with a team of scientists to formulate this brand. All of Lagom products are formulated with their hero ingredient, DermaFlux, which is clinically proven to delivery hydration deep into the skin cells (rather than just the outmost skin barrier).

For me to test out of some their range, BB Cosmetic was generous enough to send through a selection of products (which I felt would work best in my routine) for me to try out and I have to say that I’ve been loving these products! They’re effective but simple to use, and I have essentially replaced a chunk of my routine with Lagom. My skin is absolutely loving it, so let me talk to you about all of these products!

In this review, I’ll be talking about the Cellus Mist Toner, Cellus Mild Moisture Cream and the Cellus White Moisture Cream. I’ve been using all three of these products daily so I’ll go in depth into the product, my experiences and my personal recommendations for when I work this into your routine.

Cellus Mist Toner | USD$30

So lets start off with the Cellus Mist Toner, which I actually love so much that I brought it overseas with me (and used multiple times a day). This is a skin toner in the form of a mist spray, which also helps to rebalance skin pH level, hydrate, nourish and protect the skin from environmental factors. I always use this product at the beginning of my skincare routine to prepare it for the rest of the products, and I also like to use this in the mornings for some quick and simple skincare.

Aside from the hero ingredient (DermaFlux), this toner also includes a range of other antioxidants such as green tea, rose oil and geranium.

These are the main claims:

  • Deliver hydration deep down into the skin (DermaFlux)
  • Protect and repair skin (Green Tea)
  • To brighten and tighten pores (Bergamot, Grapefuit and Orange Oil)
  • To soothe and heal damaged skin (Moringa oil)
  • And also to provide additional hydration and to fortify skin (Rose oil)

Packaging

The toner comes in a white plastic bottle with a misting spray. From what I could test, the mist has a very fine and light spray. I did use it for a while, however, realised my own bottle was slightly damaged (I could see a crack at the nozzle which was making it spray at an odd angle) so I ended up replacing it with another spray to use. Aside from that though, the packaging is nice and simple – which I appreciate. Although it is made of plastic, it withstood travelling fine too.

That all being said, this product is 150mL so it is a bit larger than what I would usually carry around. I just liked the refreshing and lightweight formula so much that I wanted to bring it along. I think that it would be good if they released a travel size as well!

Overall, I had a good experience with this toner! To be honest, I already expected to like it because I generally love any toners that I can spray (they’re just so easy to use and layer up). Although I tend to go through these much quicker – I’m actually almost finished with this one – they’re also easier to use. If you’re travelling, I also prefer toner mists as it means I don’t need to bring any cotton pads.

I felt that this product really kept my skin hydrated well. It absorbed easily and also instantly soothed my skin if I was having any redness. I especially like to use it after any more stripping sort of product (such as mud masks or foaming cleansers) as I like it for rebalancing my skin pH and I can visible see my complexion look better after using it.

That all being said, I didn’t notice any brightening or pore refining benefits as was mentioned though. Overall, I feel like this is more of a soothing and hydrating formula. I personally really enjoyed using this and it is one that I would consider repurchasing.

THOUGHTS? This toner gave me great immediate results, which I especially loved to use in the mornings (when I am so basic with my skincare that sometimes I just layer up the toner). I love how well it absorbs and keeps my skin feeling hydrated and fresh.

However, I would only hesitate to recommend it because of the price – at USD$30 for the bottle, it isn’t too expensive but I found that I went through the bottle really quickly. I think one bottle would last me around 1.5-2 months.

Cellus Mild Moisture Cream | USD$46

And next would be the Cellus Mild Moisture Cream. I originally wanted to try this to use as part of my morning skincare routine but the formula turned out to be a bit creamier than I anticipated, so I found that this product is also suitable for my night routine – I ended up taking this on holidays with me because I liked the pump dispenser (which is the most hygienic for this sort of product) and it’s versatility.

This product claims to repair damaged skin and also strengthen sensitive skin, while also keeping it decongested through the use of Witch Hazel extract and Centella Asiatica (one of my favourites). It also contains some anti-aging ingredients and other very rich moisturisers (like macadamia nut oil and shea butter) to promote elasticity. It has a texture that falls somewhere between a cream and a gel (though leans more towards the former) and very hydrating formula. It also has a very light citrusy scent, but it is barely noticeable.

Packaging

The packaging of this product is very similar to the previous toner mist. It has a nice and sturdy white plastic packaging with black text (which doesn’t rub or scratch off like some cheaper printing). It also has that same semi opaque cap. Unlike the mist though, this bottom is a lot shorter – carrying 80mL of product – and therefore is also a lot more travel friendly. I found that this fit in easily to my make up case and would also fit into an overnight make up bag quite easily. In additional, as previously mentioned, the pump dispenser also makes this product more hygienic and easier for on-to-go use.

In regards to the pump, I find that I have to use around 2-3 pumps for a full face application. It’s quite smooth and feels like good quality, but I do wish that the dispensing was more balanced out so that I only had to do it once or twice. This is really me nitpicking though because, in general, I don’t find any flaw in the packaging. It isn’t super fancy or ornate, but it looks nice and works well.

You can see how the product applies on my hand above. It gives a really nice instant boost of hydration and the product also spreads out easily, making it perfect to use on top of any toner and serums. I see some soothing benefits from this cream too but, aside from that,

However, this product also claims to be extremely quick absorbing and I don’t find it so. It isn’t too bad but it does take a moment to fully absorb into the skin. If worn under make up, I find that I also need to let the cream sit for a few minutes before going on top with primer and foundation or make up will feel too heavy and a little bit greasy.

That being said, I do still use it in the mornings (a bit more sparingly and allowing myself more time) as the hydration boost from the product does well to last me all day. In comparison though, I personally prefer to use it at night as I like to keep my morning routine the most basic and lightweight as possible.

THOUGHTS? I enjoyed using this cream but, to be honest, it isn’t perfect for my routine and I don’t think that I would choose to repurchase this once I finish it – though I will finish it up. At USD$46, the price tag is quite up there and I personally prefer more lightweight sort of creams. I feel like it might be the inclusion of shea butter in this formula that makes it a little bit too rich for what I needed.

This would be better suited to someone with dry-leaning skin or who doesn’t wear much base make up, as the cream does give you a beautifully hydrated base (just not one that you can then layer make up on easily).

Cellus White Moisture Cream | USD$41

Lastly, there is the Cellus White Moisture Cream, which is actually quite similar to the Mild Moisture Cream actually (but lighter than the Deep version), except that this claims to have added brightening benefits. This is a product that I didn’t end up taking with me overseas, as I was trying to minimise the number of ‘tubs’ I brought (I find that they often spill because I’m bad at closing things properly), but I did use this for a period of time while I was in Australia and enjoyed the benefits of it.

According to the description, this product can create ‘healthy, lit-from-within dewy skin’ as it helps to brighten dull and lacklustre complexions. It contains Niacinamide, which is a well-known brightening ingredient that helps to fade dark spots and pigmentation. In addition, it also contains rice extract and Korean wild native flowers for hydration and protection from environmental factors, green tea extract (to balance sebum product) and also a number of hydrating ingredients (orange flower oil, lavender oil, rose oil, bergamot oil and – once again – shea butter).

I generally used this product as part of my evening routine but it is recommended for use both morning and night, to optimise the brightening results. Similarly to the Mild Moisture Cream though, I found that it wasn’t as fast absorbing as promised so did not use this under make up. The texture is similar to the Mild Moisture Cream but, personally, I feel like this one is just a tad more lightweight as a gel-cream hybrid but only very slightly. The difference is not big enough to make a difference in absorption.

Packaging

This cream, along with the Cellus Deep Moisture Cream (which I am not reviewing), comes in a white tub packaging. Because the whole container is make of a white plastic, it doesn’t look as fancy but the quality of it is still consistent and it looks pretty good! The design of this is very no frills but I don’t particularly mind it. It is quite compact and in-excessive.

In addition to this, this product also comes with an included clear plastic spatula – which I would always recommend using to keep your product as hygienic as possible. It also have a plastic cover (not pictured) which just helps a little bit to protect the cream when you are storing it.

Overall, the packaging is sufficient but admittedly a bit underwhelming. It isn’t too different from the previous two product at first glance but the lack of details detract from the nice design that they had going on. I think the Deep Moisture Cream looks a bit nicer.

As you can see in the above photo of my hand, the cream really does give skin a natural, hydrated radiance that would be perfectly suited for someone who wants to create a dewier base. For myself and my combination-oily skin though, this product is better suited for night time use (where it doesn’t need to co-operate with my make up). As the texture is similar to the Mild Moisture Cream, it does spread and apply easily on the skin, though takes a bit to fully absorb. It also works well layered on top of other skincare, which is great since this product is meant to be used at the end of your routine.

In addition to the hydrating benefits that I saw, I also likes the slight brightening and radiance that this product gave my skin. It was slow, but definitely noticeable as I used it. However, it did not fully get rid of my dark spots and pigmentation (in particular the darker spots that I have). I noticed some subtle rebalancing my skin’s oil production but it didn’t totally ‘fix’ my skin concern.

Comparing the two (Mild Moisture Cream and this White Moisture Cream), I would personally lean towards repurchasing the second one as I like the added radiance and brightening benefits – subtle though it may be. At 50mL for the tub, the price difference between the two is very insignificant, but I just feel like this product gave me more visible results outside of just hydrating my skin.

THOUGHTS? Out of the two, I am more likely to recommend this cream but I still feel like the two formulas are just okay. This one didn’t blow me out of the water either and, for the price point, I feel like I wanted more from the product. I will likely try Lagom again, because their products are nice and I like the vision behind them, but would like to see them do more experimentation with their packaging and further development into ensure that these creams deliver more dramatic results.

Have you guys tried out anything from Lagom before? Because if you haven’t, then it would be a good time to check out BB Cosmetic because they just launched this brand on their store not too long ago (well, before I left on holidays, but still). Remember that you can also use my affiliate code (QAL3F6ZA8YZ) for an additional 5% off, and that all orders get free shipping.

Out of the three that I tried, my personal favourite would be their Toner Mist! It is a bit expensive for a product that you will likely use up quickly, but the quality is definitely there and you will get results. If you’re wanting to try out one of the creams, look into all of the Mild, Deep or White versions as the suitability will really depend on your skin type too.
