Have you used anything from Dr Ceuracle before? The original company (Leegeeham) was launched back in 2000, but they changed their name and visual identity last year – it’s been well received and a lot of people have been complimenting the refreshed design too. Regardless of the change though, the brand has maintained its focus on professional, dermatologist tested skincare and are actually still carrying their most famous Tea Tree Essence!

I was looking through BB Cosmetic‘s inventory a while ago and noticed that they carried a lot of their products – I hadn’t tried anything from the brand before and I just knew it was time. The Hyal Reyouth Ampoule caught my eye partly because of the gorgeously simple packaging, and also because I’m a big fan of Hyaluronic Acid in general. I have combination-oily skin, so I find that most HA formulas suit me well.

If you’d like to check out this product, it’s available on BB Cosmetic for USD$27.20 (use my code QAL3F6ZA8YZ for 5% off). There is also a Hyal Reyouth Toner and Hyal Reyouth Night Cream within the same range.

Before you jump onto the website though, let’s get into this review!

Product Description

The Hyal Routh Ampoule is described as “a firming care ampoule replenishing long-lasting hydration,” and the box (as seen in the above photo) lists the functions as:

  • Wrinkle care
  • Elasticity care
  • Strengthening Barrier
  • Moisturising

Its hero ingredient is a 6-Hyaluronic Complex which provides intense and deep moisture to dehydrated skin. In addition to that, this product also contains Panthenol/Vitamin B5 (which forms a collagen layer on skin for long lasting moisture) and Fructan (deeply hydrating and also helps to restore the moisture barrier and skin cells).

This formula is targeted to people with dehydrated skin or those who are concerned about dullness, fine lines or rough, uneven skin tones. From my personal experience, I find that hyaluronic acid is a brilliant ingredient for combination and oily skin types too, as it helps to rebalance moisture levels (then improving oil production). The Hyal Reyouth Ampoule has also been dermatologically tested to be suited for sensitive skin!

From what I can see of product photos, Dr Ceuracle has a very modern and simple approach to packaging, which I appreciate. The product comes in a white and blue unit carton made from a matte finish cardboard. The information in printed neatly in both Korean and English, which is great if you want to check out ingredients (and proves that the brand is targeting an international audience).

However, I have to say that there isn’t anything special about the design. It’s actually rather lacklustre when you compare it to the bottle design.

Opening up the unit carton, you’ll find that the actual bottle is made of frosted blue plastic; it’s more lightweight compared to glass and less prone to breakage. The design is simple but it’s a good touch that they also have a ‘date’ area on the back (see below photos) where you can note when you first opened the bottle. I think that more brands should do this as its a simple way of encouraging people to use their products up.

In addition to this, the bottle has a soft white plastic dropper. I usually really like droppers but because of the texture of the product (which I will go into next), I think that a pump would’ve been more practical.

Overall though, the bottle has a very elegant and modern appearance. It actually looks high end and works for the professional image of the Dr Ceuracle brand; I just wish that that they put a little bit more effort into the unit carton. I love minimalist design, but this just didn’t look as elegant.

Personal Experiences

I’ve used a lot of Hyaluronic Acid products before so I knew what type of texture to expect. The Hyal Reyouth Ampoule had a dense gel-like formula, which smoothed easily over skin. The serum actually feels somewhat slippery while you’re working it in and dries to form a very thin coating over your skin (somewhat like a sleeping mask). It gives the skin an instant glow and boost of hydration, but takes a while to fully dry and absorb. I like it at night, as it helps to lock in all over products used beneath it but is still thin enough to layer a moisturiser on top.

That being said, this is not a product that I would recommend to use underneath make up (which means that I couldn’t use it during the day at all). The formula has a tendency to pill after a few hours, which would ruin any foundation. It also takes too long to settle in so wouldn’t work for my time restricted mornings.

Overall though, I felt like this is an enjoyable ampoule to use. It has a simple formula that delivers on its claims, but isn’t overly strong nor irritating for skin. It also pairs well with other products. However, the thicker texture meant that it was difficult to pick up with the dropper (and I ended up having to refill twice just to get the recommended application). This is the reason that I previously said a pump would’ve been better for this formula.

So those are my thoughts on the ampoule! After using it for a few weeks, I noticed that my complexion was better balanced (oil wise) and that it was definitely feeling more hydrated. In fact, my skin felt great even after a long day of wearing full makeup. I can’t really vouch for its anti-aging benefits, but I do feel like incorporating this into my skincare routine also helped it to heal more effectively – but this may also be due to how it is working in combination with my other anti-acne products.

I had a good experience with the Hyal Reyouth Ampoule and, while I did have some issues with the packaging, they weren’t too bad and I’m still interested in trying out more from the brand! Next up, I think that I’ll be looking into their Tea Tree Essence (as that’s another ingredient that my skin loves).

Here’s the verdict!

An ampoule containing 6-Hyaluronic complex to target Moisture, Elasticity, Wrinkle Care and the Skin Barrier

  • Aesthetically pleasing bottle packaging
  • Gives skin an instant glow and boost of hydration
  • Helped to rebalance oil production
  • Forms a layer over skin to lock in hydration
  • No skin irritation
  • Works well when layering other skincare products

  • Lacklustre unit carton design
  • Dropper dispenser is hard to use
  • Takes a relatively long term to dry and settle on skin
  • Doesn’t work well underneath make up

  • PRICE POINT | 4/5
  • PACKAGING | 3/5
  • HYDRATION | 5/5
  • ABSORPTION | 2/5

As I mentioned, I did enjoy this ampoule. It helped my skin stay hydrated throughout the day, thus minimising oil production, which is especially important for people with combination skin. It was also quite gentle from my experience and worked well with other skincare products. The only thing to keep in mind is that this doesn’t work well with make up and is really a night-only product.
