Fans of colourful makeup, cute aesthetics and Japanese pop culture will be so excited to hear that the Colourpop X Hello Kitty collaborations are back – and this time it’s brighter than ever! Launching June 17th, this is a follow up from their previous winter themed collection. It’s called Hello Sunshine and includes new eyeshadow quads, blushes, a lip balm trio and a really yummy lippie scrub… all with a fruity, summery vibe.
Since this collection is likely to sell out fast, heres a break down of the information so far and some initial thoughts!
This collection will include four brand new eyeshadow quads, all with bright fruit inspired colour stories and a mix of matte, sequin or shimmer shades. My eye is definitely drawn towards Cherry Sweet and Coco Cutie – for Cherry Cutie specifically, I can see myself getting quite a lot of use out of them.
These will most likely be around USD$12 (same as the Animal Crossing collaboration) but I wish that they would have used plastic packaging for these! I like to carry smaller quads in my hand bag and feel like these may get battered up.
After that, there are two new super bright blushes – which are wonderful considering that the Winter Collection was really pale. There’s been a lot of demand for shades that are more suitable for medium to deep skin tones, and I really hope that these deliver on that. In my experience, their powder blushes have a gorgeously buildable formula so I have faith!
The two shades are called Aloha Honey and Island Shine, both with a matte finish. The shades include a cool-toned fuschia and a warm bright coral, so they are covering a range of undertones. Both of the blushes also feature a really cute pan design with either a kitty face or bow embossing.
As with all of their blush releases, it can be really tempting to collect them all… but I would only recommend to purchase what works for your skin tone! I will most likely pass on these as they’re a bit too bright for my pasty self.
For lips, Colourpop is releasing a really cute Glowing Lip Balm Set – which is totally on trend as most people are starting to lean towards natural, balmy finishes. This set contains three shades (Hello Fruity, Tropic Cute and Fun in the Sun) which range from pink, corals to an every day nude. The tubes have a bright yellow and pink design, which is super on brand for Hello Kitty.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that these will be available individually and I don’t think Colourpop have ever released balms before, so I wouldn’t know the price point. The previous collection featured a Lux Gloss trio for USD$27 but I hope that these will have a much lower price point.
And finally, it’s a product that we are all too familiar with! First introduced in the Winter Collection (then subsequently also in the Lizzie Maguire Collaboration), the lip scrub is being brought back in the Hello Sunshine collection with a yummy, fruity flavour. This one is called Pineapple Pop and ooh – it’s sounds good!
This is a sugar lip scrub which is great for prepping the lips before make up application (especially if you are using matte formulas). I may be passing on this too as I don’t really reach for these but I think a lot of other people will be keen!
And that’s the full Hello Sunshine Collection, as has been shown! Are you excited for this? I think it’s super cute and I’m definitely more interested in this than I was for the Winter Collection (which was very frankly too soft and pastel for me). I’m most keen on the eyeshadow quads, as I love bright eyeshadow, and I think the lip trio looks really good too!
I wish that they brought back the lip treatment tubs from the Winter Collection – or even made it into a tube format to be included with the lip trio. I also wish that they had glitters again. It’s a polarising product but I love using them for editorial looks, or even as a highlighter topper on days when I’m feeling extra extra.
Remember that this full collection will be available at Colourpop on June 17th, so get ready and go!
